“Hopefully, life will open one door after another! Hopefully, he will be able to find the flair to trust in life and the inspiration to endow maximum trust to what is hard and cumbersome in a just manner! (…) What is asked of us is that we love what is difficult and learn to handle it. In the face of difficulty, there are the benign forces and our determination. In the midst of difficulty, we are meant to experience our joy, our happiness, our dreams: There, against the depth of this background, they become visible and only there may we recognise their beauty. Only in the darkness of difficulty our precious smile attains its meaning: Only there it shines with its deep and dreamy light, and in the brightness that it spreads momentarily, we behold the wonders and treasures all around us.” Rainer Maria Rilke
We all have the necessary inner strength to face our destiny, our life. This is always my starting point. Sometimes, we get carried away with a certain event or conflict… Therapy helps us focus on retracing the path, which is no other than the path towards our inner selves. All our resources and the strength to face what lies in store for us tomorrow can be found here too, in our inner selves.
Faith in our own strength, in the unique and individual manner we have of living our lives, implies two essential things: Firstly, being at peer level with clients, showing deep respect for their lives, circumstances and values, and secondly, the fact that clients are responsible for their own decisions in life.
“Starting on a new path is frightening, but after every step, we realise how dangerous it would've been to remain still.” Roberto Benigni
Any form of personal growth always means leaving our comfort zone. Humans get used to practically everything, including behaviours, mindsets, beliefs and relations that could be harmful. To solve this and change things, we need courage, flexibility and open-mindedness; The courage to begin a journey that can take us to no other place than to the most authentic version of ourselves. Therapist and client work hand-in-hand to shed light on something currently hidden in the shadows with the purpose of finding solutions and living life with greater awareness, being present and happier.
